Clarity and explanation on deadline. I love the addrenaline rush and challange of working quickly and efficiently. These pieces are from my time at The Columbus Dispatch newspaper. I cut my teeth during late-night, weekend shifts. My graphics added value to coverage of breaking news as well as local interest stories. I made maps, charts, diagrams, and tables from data. I pieced together scenes based on loose descriptions of crime scenes from reporters, publicly available tools, and police reports. I learned to draw on deadline, injecting visual nuggets into occasionally dry stories.
