This represents two of my favorite things: designing and brewing beer. I love the process of brewing—from building recipes to fermenting, from brewing to tasting the final product. I even restored my grandfather's old 1951 Kelvinator refrigerator to keep the suds cold.
At the end of the process, I take some time to design a label for the beer. I think about the personality of the recipe and how I want to present the bottles. These give me a chance to have a little fun and experiment with typography, texture, and color. I also make sure to keep note of the basic recipe and taste properties of the beer through a simple sidebar. I print these labels 8-up on a normal sheet of paper and affix them to the bottles with milk.
